Addressing the rally, Former Ambassador and renowned Columnist, Asif Ezdi said that the right to determine their destiny is a basic right of the Kashmiri people and we will always stand by them in their struggle.
Former Secretary General of Foreign Affairs, Akram Zaki remarked that India propagates the accession of Kashmir by Raja Hari Singh which is nothing but a fabrication. India has failed to produce such an agreement at any international forum. India has occupied Kashmir through brute force and the issue must be resolved in light of United Nations’ resolutions.
Allama Inayat Ullah Qadri said that the international community must fulfill its responsibilities by pressurizing India for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, for the restoration of peace and stability in the region.
Tahir Mehmood, Research Associate at the MUSLIM Institute, informed the participants that figures released by international human rights organizations confirm that over one hundred and five thousand shops and houses have been set ablaze, one hundred and seven thousand children orphaned and over twenty five thousand women have been widowed under the Indian occupation of Kashmir. Denial of fundamental rights and the imposition of arbitrary laws by the Indian controlled regime is a blatant violation of all established conventions of international law and universally recognized human rights.
The speakers declared that India’s conduct in Kashmir not only exposes its hypocrisy before the world but also exposes it’s hallow claims of being the world’s greatest secular democracy. Participants of the rally carried banners and placards in support of the Kashmiri people.
The rally was attended in great number by members of the civil society including former ambassadors, lawyers, members of the academia, students as well women and children of all ages. The rally commenced from ‘China Chowk’ on Jinnah Avenue and terminated at ‘D Chowk’.
