Welcoming Remarks Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali
Chairman MUSLIM Institute
I am indebted to all honorable guests especially from abroad for participation in the conference at the invitation of MUSLIM Institute. Teachings of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo (R.A) and Hadrat Mevlana Rumi (R.A) are as effective as they were in their respective times. The teachings of Sufi mystics should be spread to bring everlasting love and peace in the society. Once upon a time Sufi teachings were part of our syllabus but now our society has even formally been deprived from this wisdom and knowledge. It is not enough to sing the mystic poems in luring and melodious way; it should be rather application of their vision. It is also quite necessary to conduct research on their thoughts because such personalities have not been born since long.

Guest of Honor Speech His Excellency Mr. Nedim Makarevic
Ambassador of Bosnia & Herzegovina to Pakistan
Bosnian Muslims suffered from brutality in 1990s but their hearts were engraved with Islam because of Sufi teachings. There is almost three hundred years gap between Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and Mevlana Rumi but their teachings have the same message and theme which are based upon their spiritual observations and experiences. According to their valuable teachings, spirituality is the only thing that differentiates between human and animal, and if soul is not awakened then one is mere animal. Their teachings promote universal love and can promote dialogue between apparently diverse civilizations over the globe.

Special Remarks
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar
Persian Department, University of the Punjab
Mevlana Rumi removed all the disappointment resulting from fall of Samarqand and Bukhara, the centers of Muslims’ culture, by Changeiz Khan, while Hadrat Sultan Bahoo eradicated sectarianism and religious and social segregation being after-math of wars between kings in sub-continent. Our downfall is the result of not following the spiritual teachings which were practiced by Sufi saints and our ancestors. Teachings of Sufis are still present in our hands and we can solve our social issues by practicing them. It also brings non-Muslims closer to Muslims. Hadrat Sultan Bahoo was Wali (friend of Allah Almighty) by birth, while Mevlana Rumi was a great theologian and became ‘Mevlana Rumi’ when he came under the spiritual mentoring of Hadrat Shah Shams Tabreiz (R.A).

Guest of Honor Speech His Excellency Mr. Jononov Sherali
Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan
Teachings of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and Mevlana Rumi give the lesson of love for humans and I wish that this conference be a starting milestone for spreading Sufi wisdom and knowledge that is requirement of the time. Spirituality is the main link between Central Asia and South Asia. Both the holy personalities emphasized love, peace and patience in their teachings. According to their philosophy, ‘heart’ of a human being is a place where Allah Almighty reveals and thus enlightens our souls. As Hadrat Rumi says ‘heart is divine pasture’ (دل گزرگاہِ جلیلِ اکبراست) and Hadrat Sultan Bahoo says ‘the body of yours is the dwelling of true Sustainer’ (ایہہ تن رب سچےداحجرہ).

Chief Guest Speech Pir Syed Ibrahim Shah
Representative of Pir Muhammad Amin Ul Hasnat Shah, Minister of State for Religious Affair and Inter-Faith Harmony
The youth should develop reading habits and follow Sufi teachings. The Colonization terminated link to our cultural heritage in Persian language in sub-continent. We have to develop our association with the scholarly work of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and Hadrat Mevlana Rumi. We have to collect all the scattered wisdom jewels of our holy ancestors and mystics. Sufi teachings are based upon the notion of unity and that is our splendid future. Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and Hazrat Mevlana Rumi taught us love, peace, mutual harmony and brotherhood.

Man, the crown of creation; focus of the teachings of Sultan Bahoo & Mevlana Rumi Dr. Nurali Nurzad
Khunjad State University, Tajikistan
Books of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and poetic work of Hadrat Mevlana Rumi teach us about ‘Faqr’(Spiritual excellence). Apparent knowledge is only beneficial when innermost knowledge is also acquired. When we study the books of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo, new secrets are disclosed. I want to translate his books in Tajik language because every line of his saying is researchable and it has very delicate words of Persian language. Hadrat Sultan Bahoo considers the continuous effort superior to miraculous efforts (استقامت، کرامت سے بہتر ہے) and urges upon making persistent effort.

Social balance & equity and teachings of Sultan Bahoo & Mevlana Rumi Prof. Dr. Aalia Sohail Khan
Principal Government Postgraduate College for Women, Rawalpindi
We should focus on mystical teachings while ignoring the westernized materialistic thought perspective. The nitty-gritty of their philosophy is fight against base self that promotes human prestige. We should promote their teachings for social balance and equity. We cannot bring real justice in the society unless and until our political and religious authorities undergo self-accountability. If we just remain the slave of our naive wishes, we cannot bring real change in society and improve self-solidarity.

Concept of "love for Divinity& nothing else" for balance in society as described by Sultan Bahoo & Mevlana Rumi Prof. Dr. Farid ud Din Khan
University of Information Technology and Sciences Dhaka, Bangladesh
Our society needs spiritual dose so that social justice and peace can flourish because these teachings are truly for all humans. Hadrat Mevlana Rumi presented the true purpose of human being and Hadrat Sultan Bahoo presented the means to achieve that purpose. Hadrat Rumi sowed the seed of sacred love of Allah in the hearts of people and Hadrat Bahoo cultivated the final crop of divine unison through his collection of verses. Sufi mystics believe that Hadrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the sole reason for the creation of this universe. All Sufis have elaborated the love bond between Allah and human being. We have to make our relation with Allah stronger than with this world.

Chief guest speech Barrister Zafar Ullah Khan
Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Parliamentary Affairs
Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and Hadrat Mevlana Rumi had the similar philosophy and their teachings teach us the love of humanity and divinity. They consider human as the center of universe. We have to bow before Allah by negating false theories of the world. Sufi teachings are inevitable for contemporary world and their teachings should be propagated to remove western clouds over Muslim thought. Any philosophy that decreases the human value is neither Islamic nor Sufism. Today we have to eliminate sectarianism through provision of justice, equity, equality and high moral values.

Chair of the session Dr. Ali Asghar Chishti
Dean Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad
Shariah and Tareeqat (Mystical path) are in fact the streams of the same water and Tareeqat is the name of acting upon Shariah in depth and wholeheartedly. Sufi mystics emphasized on spending lives according to Quran and Sunnah. Holy Quran is a divine light but we are just limited to reading it. All Sufi mystics have narrated this sacred Book. Today Islam is facing criticism because of our bad deeds. We have to change our style and should practice high ethical values and make our deeds right. It is only possible through spiritual awakening.

Chief Guest speech Mr. Sikandar Ismail Khan
Federal Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development
Friends of Allah have always invited people towards divine unison. The universal reality is hidden inside human being because soul belongs to Allah. Our ego and base self is the main hurdle in this way. Peace and anarchy both are created inside our body. We have to rectify ourselves and then the society would be better. If we control ourselves, we can bring peace in the world.

Inculcating humility and patience among humans through philosophy of Sultan Bahoo and Mevlana Rumi Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar
Persian Department, University of the Punjab
Nowadays, human has become victim of self-indulgence and greediness by leaving love, care and patience because it has left studying Sufi teachings, its indigenous heritage. One’s nature can be changed through love. Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and Mevlana Rumi consider the entire universe as image/reflection of Allah Almighty and therefore care for His creatures. Allama Iqbal has written immense literature based upon the teachings of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and Mevlana Rumi.

Different dimensions of knowledge and its sources in the teachings of Sultan Bahoo and Mevlana Rumi Prof. Dr. Erkan Turkmen
Konaya Karatay University, Turkey
Different Sufi saints of different regions have given the same message using different languages because they have the same foundation. Their poetry is in-fact interpretation of Holy Quran. They have urged upon awakening human soul which is master of all sorts of knowledge. Our mind has individual consciousness while our soul has universal consciousness because it is connected to Allah Almighty. Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and Hadrat Mevlana Rumi emphasize on spiritual education. We can find the use of ‘Hoo’ in odes of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and same is also applied by Rumi, and ‘Hoo’ is the true way of recognizing Divine reality in our souls.

Vote of thanks Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali
Chairman MUSLIM Institute
Unfortunately, the true legacy of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo, in forms of 140 Persian Books, has been unexplored and hidden from our eyes. He is more famous for his Punjabi poetry and the same has been researched, whereas a lot of research work is required on his Persian prose and poetry. Allama Iqbal used to listen to his Punjabi poetry (Abyat) but there is no valid evidence whether he had been able to analyze his Persian poetry. However, one Persian poem of Hadrat Sultan Bahoo and one Urdu poem of Allama Iqbal had been written in the same fashion. At the end, I am really grateful to all honorable guests for participating in this conference.
